CCNE Organizes 2026 Annual Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal

On May 21–22, we gathered in Lisbon for our Annual Meeting, hosted by The Equator Company. Across the discussions, several themes emerged repeatedly: navigating increasingly multi-layered crises, strengthening stakeholder-focused communications, and continuing the shift from reactive response to broader organizational preparedness that goes well beyond communications. Most importantly, it was a valuable opportunity to reconnect in person, exchange ideas and experiences, and learn from one another.

The meeting opened on Thursday with agency presentations, offering members the chance to share updates, insights, and recent work. We explored a series of case studies and welcomed a client of our hosts, who shared reflections on their project and the value of the client-agency relationship. Members also reviewed the key findings of the 2026 CCNE Pulse Check, sparking discussion around the evolving challenges facing organizations and crisis communicators today.

On Friday, discussions continued with additional crisis communications case studies and interactive breakout sessions focused on crisis preparedness services. Members exchanged ideas on frameworks and methodologies to strengthen the CCNE Toolkit and engaged in strategic conversations about the future direction of the network.

This year’s Annual Meeting took place at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Lisbon, a convenient location close to both the airport and the city’s metro network. Alongside the formal sessions, members enjoyed the opportunity to experience Lisbon together over local food, drinks, and an evening at a traditional Fado restaurant.

This year’s meeting once again highlighted the value of collaboration, shared expertise, and strong personal connections across the network. We are already looking forward to gathering again in 2027. Obrigado por nos receberem, Lisboa!
